District 6 PIAA
20010-2011 Girls’ Volleyball Tournament
All District 6 schools with girls’ volleyball teams are eligible to participate. Class AA District 5 teams are also eligible to participate in the open tournament. There is a $75.00 entry fee payable to PIAA District 6.
Please let District 6 know if you will or will not be entering the tournament by October 22, 2010.
Email or fax the record form (classification, W-L record, name of opponent, and scores) as soon as possible, but no later than 1:00 p.m., October 27, 2010.

A-AA Championships November 6, 2010
A at Altoona 1:00 pm
AA at Altoona 3:oo pm
AAA Championships November 3, 2010 at Tyrone Middle School 7:00
Rating System: (Only count regular season contests—tournament games do NOT count.)
A. All games that were played up to and including October 26, 2010, are counted for A, AA, AAA. Games played after October 26 will not be counted for seeding purposes.
B. Objective criteria will be total points divided by the total games played. Points will be calculated according to the following:
1. Four points for all wins
2. Three points for defeating AAA
Two points for defeating AA
One point for defeating A
3. Two points for defeating any regularly scheduled team holding a .700 winning percentage as of October 27, 2009. These teams must be designated on the entry form.
Teams seeded highest host game, provided:
1: Gym is available
2: There is no rental fee for use of gym
If either of the two conditions cannot be met, then the site will go to the next highest seed. The number of sites will be determined by how many teams enter the tournament. If you know your gym will NOT be available, please let me know as soon as possible.
Highest seeded team is the home team. The home team is the official scorebook unless mutually agreed upon. Best of 5 match, starting at 0-0.
Times: 5 minutes – shared passing
5 minutes – visiting team has court
5 minutes – home team has court
2 minutes – shared serving
Host schools will use usual site personnel, paid the schools regular rates. Game Managers will be from the host school and be paid a fee set by the District 6 Committee.
The Girls’ State Final date is Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Central York High School, York, Pennsylvania.
A team entry/information form must be completed by a representative of the winning school. Confirmation that your team will participate in the State Tournament must be given to James R. Price by email by November 6, 2010.
**If you feel your team might make it to the state tournament, please send team picture to the PIAA office before November 5, 2010.**
Team members, managers, and coaches must report as a group to their respective site. Cheerleaders will be admitted free if they wear their uniforms. Principals and Athletic Directors may use their District 6 pass for admittance to all District 6 matches. All others must have a ticket.
Principals of the participating schools are responsible for the conduct of their coaches, players, managers, and spectators.
The tournament director, working with the site manager, will make all final decisions.
Dates, times, and locations are subject to change if the Volleyball Chairman or Volleyball Committee deem necessary.
District 6 will assign officials. Officiating teams from District 6 chapters will serve as referee, umpire, and lines persons with their decisions being final. There will be no appeal of these decisions!
**All schools must have parking for officials and escort them to their cars after matches!**
