Regular Meeting of PIAA District 6 – August 5, 2003
Chairman Wotkowski called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 8:00 AM at the Scotch Valley Country Club. Present were: Ray Wotkowski, Dean Rossi, Al D’Ambrosia, Michael Sakash, Dave Heim, David Crumrine, James Price, Don Hosterman, Jules Dill, Vince Nedimyer, Kathy Getz, Alberta Ake, Gary Jubas, Norman Krumenacker, Charles Koren, Carole Kakabar, and Kim Struble.
Approval of Minutes
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Charles Koren, the minutes of the June 12, 2003, were approved.
Communications
Kathy Getz and Dave Heim reviewed disqualification reports of baseball players. No action was taken.
Chairman Wotkowski received a letter from Greater Johnstown High School requesting that they be consider as a host site for football championships to be held at Pointe Stadium in Johnstown.
Jeffrey A. Baird, Principal, Penn Cambria High School, submitted a copy of Penn Cambria policy regarding student conduct at sporting events to the District 6 Committee. Committee members will receive a copy at the September meeting.
Bishop McCort was fined $100 for failure to attend the mandatory “Rules and Regulation meeting.
On a motion by Charles Koren and Dean Rossi, The Committee approved a request from St. John the Evangelist Catholic School to withdraw their cooperative athletic sponsorship with Bellefonte Area School District, effective June 30, 2003.
Financial Reports
On a motion by Vince Nedimyer and Don Hosterman, the District 6 Committee unanimously approved the July Financial Report.
On a motion by Dean Rossi and Kathy Getz the Baseball Financial Report given by Chairman David Crumrine was accepted.
Eligibility Hearings
On a motion by Jules Dill and Vince Nedimyer, Stephen Gates, a Bishop McCort High School student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Transfer and Residence, Section 9. Charles Koren abstained from voting.
David Crumrine and Norman Krumenacker made a motion to approve Jesse Strickler, a Purchase Line High School student, eligible for sports based on Article III, Attendance Waiver, Section III. James Price abstained from voting.
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Kim Struble, Tyler Pears, a Bishop McCort High School student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Transfer and Residence, Section 8. Charles Koren abstained from voting.
On a motion by Dean Rossi and Albert D’Ambrosia, Alanna Alva, a Bishop McCort High School student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Transfer and Residence, Section 8. Charles Koren abstained from voting.
Kim Struble and Dave Heim made a motion to approve Jason Dunbar, a Bishop McCort High School student, eligible for sports based on Article VI, Transfer and Residence, Section 8. Charles Koren abstained from voting.
Foreign Exchange Eligibility Hearings
The following students have a J1 VISA and were approve to participate in sports on a motion from Alberta Ake and Charles Koren.

Information
On a motion from David Crumrine and Albert D’Ambrosia, District 5 request to participate in the following sports in the District 6 Championships were approved: Cross Country, Baseball, Girls Volleyball, Softball, Girls Field Hockey and Boys Soccer.
District 6 is recommending that the JV Volleyball games be “best of 3”.
The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2003, at the Hollidaysburg Area High School at 4:00 PM.
