Regular Meeting of PIAA District 6 – May 7, 2003
Chairman Bem called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 4:00 PM at the Scotch Valley Country Club. Present were: Stanley Bem, Ray Wotkowski, Dean Rossi, Al D’Ambrosia, Michael Sakash, Susan Werner, David Crumrine, Don Hosterman, Jules Dill, Vince Nedimyer, Kathy Getz, Alberta Ake, Gary Jubas, Norman Krumenacker, Charles Koren, Carole Kakabar, and Kim Struble.
Approval of Minutes
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Vince Nedimyer, the minutes of the April 15, 2003, were approved.
Communications
Kathy Getz reviewed disqualification reports of baseball and softball players. No action was taken.
Committee members were given copies of the results of the Balloting for Proposed Amendments to PIAA Constitution.
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Ray Wotkowski the District 6 Committee accepted the actions taken by Jeffrey A. Baird, Principal, Penn Cambria High School, regarding an incident that occurred at the Central/Penn Cambria baseball game on April 3, 2003. Mr. Baird was asked to submit a copy of Penn Cambria policy regarding student conduct at sporting events to the District 6 Committee.
Financial Reports
On a motion by David Crumrine and Dean Rossi, the District 6 Committee unanimously approved the April Financial Report.
Eligibility Hearings
There were no eligibility hearings.
Foreign Exchange Eligibility Hearings
There were no foreign exchange eligibility hearings.
Susan Werner and David Crumrine approved the following tournaments on a motion: Penn Cambria Baseball Tournament, Spiked Shoe Cross Country Meet, and Penns Valley Invitational Boys Basketball.
Information
Charles Koren shared with the District 6 Committee a summary of proposed amendments that the Oversight Council is recommending to the PIAA Board of Control.
The following committee persons will serve on the budget committee for District 6 for the 2003/2004 school year: Carole Kakabar, Jules Dill, Michael Sakash, Don Hosterman, David Crumrine, Dean Rossi, and Ray Wotkowski.
Ray Wotkowski was nominated by Don Hosterman and Susan Werner to be the Chairman.
Albert D’Ambrosia was nominated by Don Hosterman and Dean Rossi to be the Vice Chairman, and voted in by a vote of 14-0.
Dean Rossi was nominated by Kim Struble and Kathy Getz to be the Secretary/Treasurer, and voted in by the Committee.
The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 10:00 AM at the Cottage Restaurant, Ebensburg, PA.
