Regular Meeting of PIAA District 6 – January 9, 2003
Call to Order of the January 9, 2003 Meeting
Chairman Bem called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 4:00 PM at the Hollidaysburg Area High School. Present were: Stanley Bem, Ray Wotkowski Dean Rossi, Al D’Ambrosia, Michael Sakash, Susan Werner, David Crumrine, Don Hosterman, Jules Dill, Vince Nedimeyer, Kathy Getz, Kim Struble, Gary Jubas, Alberta Ake, Norman Krumenacker, Carole Kakabar, and Charles Koren.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the December 12, 2002, meeting were approved on a motion by Jules Dill and Kathy Getz.
Communications
Kathy Getz reviewed wrestling and basketball Coach or Team Personnel Disqualifications: there was an incident involving a coach, Chairman Bem will contact Bill Shives and inform him if there are any other incidents involving that coach that he (coach) will be asked to appear before the District 6 Committee.
Chairman Bem received a letter from Thomas A. Trunzo, Principal, Marion Center Area High School, regarding an incident at the Penns Manor/Marion Center boy’s varsity basketball game on December 4, 2002. On a motion by Albert D’Ambrosia and David Crumrine the District 6 Committee accepted the actions taken by the Marion Center Area High School Principal.
On a motion by Don Hosterman and Dean Rossi, the Committee unanimously approved the December Financial Report.
Approval of Tournaments
The following tournaments were approved on a motion by Jules Dill and Susan Werner: Tri-County Jr. High Wrestling Tournament, Warrior Basketball Christmas Tournament, Bellefonte Jr. High Wrestling Tournament, and Dragon Volleyball Tournament.
Eligibility Hearings
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Ray Wotkowski, Allece Marie Koehle, a Bishop Carroll student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Transfer and Residence, Section 11A with a vote of 13-0, Charles Koren abstaining.
Foreign Exchange Eligibility Hearings
There were no eligibility hearings.
District 6 Sports Reports
A motion was made by Michael Sakash and Ray Wotkowski to accept the Football Financial Report given by Jules Dill and to reimburse District 6 and District 5 schools that participated in the District 6 Football Tournament.
A motion was made Vince Nedimyer and Albert D’Ambrosia to reimburse schools $1.00 for each ticket that is sold prior to the championship.
Forest Hills High School has notified Michael Sakash, that they will be participating in AAA Boys and Girls Basketball.
Susan Werner would like to remind the athletic directors to give their swimming and diving coaches the packet of information she sent.
Information
District 6 has an agreement with Royal Publishing to produce the 2003 Boys and Girls High
School District 6 Basketball Tournament Programs. Principals please inform your athletic directors that a representative from Royal Publishing will be contacting them for team rosters, brackets, and pictures.
The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at 4:00 PM at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
