Regular Meeting of PIAA District 6 – November 13, 2003
Chairman Bem called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 4:00 PM at the Hollidaysburg Area High School. Present were: Ray Wotkowski Dean Rossi, Al D’Ambrosia, Michael Sakash, Susan Werner, Don Hosterman, Jules Dill, Vince Nedimyer, David Heim, Kim Struble, Kathy Getz, David Crumrine, James Price, Alberta Ake, and Charles Koren.
Approval of Minutes
Dean Rossi and Alberta Ake approved the minutes of the October 9, 2003, on a motion.
David Heim and Kathy Getz reviewed disqualification reports of football and soccer players that were disqualified. The Committee took no further action.
Chairman Wotkowski received a letter from Gary Gouse with a proposal for playing football within (Class A) classifications.
A letter was received from James Cekada, Principal, Conemaugh Valley High School, in regards with an incident that occurred on October 10, 2003, involving their Assistant Football coach, Corey Bair. On a motion by Jules Dill and Michael Sakash, the District VI Committee decided to “accept the actions the principal took by having the coach resign.”
Chairman Wotkowski received a letter from Rick Miller and Doug Diamond, Officials, for the Altoona vs. Somerset soccer game on September 13, 2003. The letter was reviewed and discussed at the District 6 Committee meeting.
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Jules Dill, the Committee unanimously approved the October Financial Report.
Barnes Saly present the District 6 audit for the Committee members to review and will be discussed at the December meeting.
Michael Sakash and Susan Werner made a motion to accept the Golf Financial report prepared by Dean Rossi.
David Heim and Kim Struble made a motion to accept the Cross Country Financial report prepared by Don Hosterman.
The Volleyball, Soccer, Field Hockey, and Football Financial reports will be available at the December meeting.
Football reimbursement for District 6 committee members will be as follows: meals - $25.00, mileage - .36 per mile, on a motion by David Crumrine and James Price.
On a motion by Michael Sakash and Kathy Getz, Justin Malcolm Shafranich, a Lewistown Area High School student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Section 8, Transfer and Residence, with a vote of 15-0.
On a motion by Dave Heim and Vince Nedimyer, Michael DePellegrini, a Lewistown Area High School student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Section 8, Transfer and Residence, with a vote of 14-0-1, Susan Werner abstained.
On a motion by Dave Heim and Vince Nedimyer, Kelly Marie Ostinowsky, a Bishop Carroll High School student, is eligible for sports based on Article VI, Section 11, Transfer and Residence, with a vote of 13-1-1, Charles Koren abstained.
On a motion by Albert D’Ambrosia and Susan Werner, Lilian Lieber, a Claysburg-Kimmel High School student, is ineligible for sports based on Article VII, Section 1 (5), with a vote of 15-0.
Foreign Exchange Eligibility Hearings
Dean Rossi and Vince Nedimyer approved the following foreign exchange student on a motion:

On a motion by Dean Rossi and Don Hosterman, congratulatory letters will be sent to Madeline Lovette, Girls Golf State Champion, David Mock, State Cross Country Champion, and Girls Volleyball (Class AA) team from Huntingdon High School.
PIAA Board of Directors Meeting will be held on December 5 and 6, 2003, at the Hershey Lodge.
A Human Resources Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Harrisburg Holiday Inn.
The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 4:00 PM at the Scotch Valley Country Club.
