Shannon Overdorff of United  hit the 1,000 point mark this season, on January 24th.  Shannon is just a junior.  She hit the mark against Laurel Valley and ended up with a game high 29 points that night.  She also broke two other records this year.  In December, against Northern Cambria, she broke the single game scoring record with 46 points (previous record was 36).  Last Thursday night, February 13, she broke the single season scoring record with 517 points (previous record was 505).  This in just 23 games.

Last Thursday (2/13/03), Alicia Koches of Penns Manor scored her 1,000th career point, joining her mom (who also played at Penns Manor) as the only mother/daughter 1,000 point scorers in Indiana County history.

Alicia's Mom, Rhonda Pekala Koches, scored 1,216 points from 1980 to 1983 (before there were three-point shots).

Alicia is also a two-time all-state volleyball player.

Mount Union had two players both reach 1000 points in the 56-37 win over Southern Huntingdon. Jared House, a senior, and Justin Price a junior.

They are the eighth and ninth Trojan players to join the 1,000-point club and one of the other seven is Keith Price, Justin's father. Mount Union now has three career 1,000-point scorers on the floor at the same time. In addition to House and Price, senior center Earl Hollis has 1,493 points and over 1,000 career rebounds to his credit. House is just six assists away from the school record. Robo Vaughn, a 1989 graduate, currently holds both the school point (1,628) and assist (597) records. The Trojans take a 23-1 record into Monday night's regular season finale against Glendale, where a win will give them their first league championship since Vaughn's 1988-89 club swept to the Mountain League crown.

Central Mountain assistant coach Mike Gentzel corrected me on classification of Susquehanna Twp... I had them as AAA; he informed me they are AAAA. I've made changes accordingly.

Reminder that while I am using the D6 system.. I do not have all the teams' complete scores and I have not kept most out-of-district opponents' records.. Therefore, the rankings are "close" but not official. Mike Sakash will have that information when the coaches submit it for the District Tournament.
